"Surviving the Applewhites" Summary

My Summary of the Book:Surviving the Applewhites

When 13-year-old delinquent Jake Semple is kicked out of every school in his home state, he expects to go to Juvenile Hall, the school for bad kids. Instead he ends up with the wackiest homeschooling people ever; the Applewhites. Each member of the family is eccentric, scatterbrained, and most of all, every single one of them loves art, except one. E.D. is the odd one out, she loves things organized, her family is not.

It just so happens, she and Jake will be paired up for the first ever actual class in the Applewhite school. To top it off, the only thing they have in common is their age, and that they both want to get through the families' crazy ideas.

So what do think would happen if a play, directed by Randolph Applewhite, would end up starring Jake as one of the lead roles? Read the book and find out for yourself.

  1. I'm so thrilled you are showcasing this terrific book. My upstairs neighbours for twelve years homeschooled their four kids and the mom suggested I read this book. I loved it; in fact so much that I now own a copy. Great job !

  2. The best reviews about books for young people are written BY young people--especially when it comes to us older folks looking for books to purchase for our young friends. I'm going to bookmark your blog for future reference, so keep the reviews coming!
