book for next time

At our meeting on Sunday, I chose Flush by Carl Hiaasen for our next book.

Also, we decided that Rhianna will pick next, and then Lydia. After that we'll rotate back through Sophia, Hannah, Charlotte, Rhianna, and Lydia again.

My favorite part about the book, was that there were some moments in the book, that were like little intermissions. Example:[Ok, Carter, give me the mic]
I liked how Carter and Sadie took turns telling the story. Did you?
I also liked how the book had a lot of details. No wonder the chapters were long!
By the way, great suggestion, Hannah!

a link about The Red Pyramid

i found this information on wikipedia. enjoy!

Thoughts.....

Hmmmm.................

It was OKAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I liked Kufu the baboon!!!!!! He has quite odd dietary habits.

It was awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!(that part about Kufu)
this book (the red pyramid) reminds me of of harry potter, because there are major villians in both books (set and voldemort).

2 thumbs up!

I seriously can't wait for the sequel. I am practically jumping up and down with excitement! The first book was so good! Is anyone else jumping?

Second Book Chosen!

Charlotte, Rhianna, Lydia, and Hannah met on Saturday, May 8 and after some discussion, chose the following book:

The Red Pyramid, The Kane Chronicles Book 1

by Rick Riordan

Here's the description of the book from Amazon.com:

Since their mother’s death, Carter and Sadie have become near strangers. While Sadie has lived with her grandparents in London, her brother has traveled the world with their father, the brilliant Egyptologist, Dr. Julius Kane.

One night, Dr. Kane brings the siblings together for a "research experiment" at the British Museum, where he hopes to set things right for his family. Instead, he unleashes the Egyptian god Set, who banishes him to oblivion and forces the children to flee for their lives.

Soon, Sadie and Carter discover that the gods of Egypt are waking, and the worst of them--Set--has his sights on the Kanes. To stop him, the siblings embark on a dangerous journey across the globe--a quest that brings them ever closer to the truth about their family, and their links to a secret order that has existed since the time of the pharaohs.

Here's some more information from the back flap of the book:

From the author of the blockbuster best-selling series, Percy Jackson and the Olympians, comes the first installment of the Kane Chronicles, combining non-stop action, humor, and suspense in an epic tale of loyalty and heroism.

Next Book Consideration

Hi all,

As we get ready to meet tomorrow evening and discuss "Falling In", we also need to think about our next book selection. Use the comments for your ideas!

Have any of you read the "Besty-Tacy" books?
This is a series about the friendship of two girls in the late-1800's to early 1900s. The houses that two girls grew up are going to be named as National Historic Landmarks this month. They're in Mankato, MN, just southwest of Minneapolis.

Rhianna has aunts and cousins in Minneapolis. Maybe someday we could have a book club trip!
